Unit Two: Writing Credit Requests

Introduction

In this unit, you will continue writing credit requests. We will also begin to explore documentation. In order to receive college credit, it is not enough that you say you have college-level learning. Stacks of certificates from workshops are not enough, either. Someone else needs to support and verify your claim. You will learn more about that in this unit.

Course Outcomes Practiced in This Unit:

EL205 3: Prepare appropriate documentation to support learning claims

Learning Outcomes

After completing this unit, you should be able to

  • Write credit requests
  • Identify primary documenters for credit requests

Learning Activities

  • Reading: The reading will focus on what types of people and certificates make good supporting documentation and how to go about asking for it.
  • Discussion Questions: You will explore the role of documentation in the PLA process, and you will explore who might be a good source of documentation and why.
  • Project: You will begin writing letters asking for documentation.
